About Me

I write content for music learning technology companies that attracts readers, earns their trust, and converts them to paying customers.

I know that the COVID-19 pandemic pushed you to adapt, innovate, and educate new audiences.
I know that there are larger demands on your time than ever before.
I know that great content doesn’t come easily.

And I know your customers because I’m one of them.

In addition to fulfilling my duties as a full-time music teacher, I spent months learning about content marketing and copywriting from experts during quarantine.

Some Details

I just finished my fourth year of teaching music in a K-12 setting. Like most music educators, I moved my instruction online in spring 2020 and weathered rapid changes between virtual and hybrid teaching during the last school year. Along the way, I scoured your content to help me teach successfully in this new environment. I know the kind of content that is useful to me and my colleagues.

After my first two years of teaching, I pursued and completed a Master’s degree in ethnomusicology. My research required me to get to know a group of people, interview them, and draw conclusions about their music making and associated cultural practices. This music degree wasn’t performance-based, so I essentially spent two years reading and writing – and I loved it! My writing and research skills earned me several conference presentations, including an invitation to give an hour-long lecture as part of the Smithsonian Year of Music Tuesday Talks series. I was also a graduate teaching assistant for undergraduate music courses, which required me to edit thousands (yes, thousands) of essays and assignments.

I completed an internship with the DeVos Institute of Arts Management, which provides training and consulting services to cultural institutions. There, I learned about marketing from the world’s leaders in arts management and became conversant in business lingo. The DeVos Institute invited me back twice as a contractor to edit reports of over 100 pages because I’d demonstrated my attention to detail as an intern.

Because of these varied experiences, I can:

  • Learn technology and new subject matter quickly
  • Identify customer pain points
  • Write for a specific audience
  • Write with correct grammar and punctuation
  • Find and fix typos, spacing issues, and inconsistencies

I’m eager to put these skills to use for your business.
